I cannot believe in the year 2024 popular media sites are still referring to child sex trafficking victims as “sex workers”

Honestly, the term "Sex Strike" makes me feel uncomfortable. You strike when you refuse to do your job. Labor that is your responsibility. "Sex Strike" implies that women are denying, gatekeeping something that men are owed. A woman isn't taking anything from men when she chooses not to have sex with them, so it shouldn't count as a strike even if she is doing it temporarily until situation improves. Anyone else?

Imo, If AMAB folks can be women, then AFAB folks can definitely be trans women too. And yes, AMAB people can also be cis women, like those who live stealth—though I wouldn’t say that’s the only way to think about it. When it comes to how people treat you, there’s no difference between ''being a trans or cis woman'' and ''being seen as a trans or cis woman.'"
"when it comes to how people treat you"
Do you see where you went wrong?
Do you see how you've artificially limited the scope of the conversation purely to the interpersonal?
Do you see how things might be different if we also accounted for the medico-legal, structural impacts of being trans?
My birth assignment and my current sex being in conflict is the source of a lot of structural issues, compounded by my status as an immigrant, that wouldn't affect someone whose legal designation and sex aligned.
It's really that simple, but I've realized this website has a tendency to only consider social systems and regimes in terms of interactions with others, when that's really the most superficial aspect of oppression.

Strike and Halsin for the alternate love interest thing
Tumblr media
Doesn't go that well; Halsin worships his lover a bit too much and to a recovering cult leader/child of god that isn't the healthiest thing possible.
They get together in act 3 when Strike is dealing with a lot of family shit, and him having someone who is worshipping him in a way that is so devoted and familiar is not a good thing as it makes him indulge his cultist side more. The story ends with him getting weird and more like his old self but far more dependant and posessive over Halsin, until Halsin realizes what became of his beloved and tries to kill him 'for his own good'.

I love seeing 4B trending, but I am getting the feeling that it's not because people really specifically love 4B and everything it entails, but rather an all-woman pushback against misogyny. Unfortunately, depending on your knowledge of feminism you might have a very different idea of misogyny than the typical radical feminist 4B particiant. But it's amazing you can see something here is very wrong and you're ready to make some movement to fight it. 4B isn't where you pick and choose which tenants you like, or how to apply them, but rather the full application of them. It's a worldview not just a short term project. However, there's so many things you can do instead that won't be the western co-opting of Korean 4B feminist movements and language!
So, here are some things you can do to support women's rights and choices without having to complete refuse men from your life if you're not ready to yet, and you can do any or all (varying levels of difficulty, but they are still options):
Sex strike
Don't date men right now
Chore strike
Stricter boundaries
Go porn free
Become child free
Supporting women in your life over the men in your life
Boycott men
Break up with porn consumers
Don't buy from misogynistic men/companies
Don't watch movies with male abusers/misogynists/rapists/etc.
Buy from women owned businesses
Leave a misogynistic religion
Hang out with and support your female friends over spending time with/supporting your male friends
Only read women authors
Only watch movies by women
Only listen to female singers/musicians
Volunteer at a women's shelter
Donate food or clothing to struggling mothers charities
Donate period products to women's shelters
Don't interrupt/speak over women
Walk away from men you don't want to interact with. You don't owe them your time and kindness.
Hang out with female relatives, especially older ones (aunts, grandmothers, etc.)
Help other women when they need it
Check up on your female friends
Host all-woman book clubs, tea parties, dinners, etc.
More ideas? Please reblog and add them. Just any way, no matter how big or small, someone can enact pro-woman methodologies in whatever amount she's ready to.

Psst want some some angst?
Odysseus with flowers woven into his hair, around his wrist, his ankles/ his neck/. Odysseus with his hair oiled and his skin scrubbed clean.
Calypso forces him into the bath. Forces him into clean clothes makes it so that he cannot move protest or breath while she brushes his hair. The flowers won't come off, even when he claws at his skin making himself bleed, even when he yanks chunks of his hair out trying to dislodge the pretty blossoms. Calypso heals him anyway makes his skin flawless, regrows his hair. She likes him looking pretty, likes him looking like he's loving life. Won't allow anything from the outside world to touch them, even if that's odysseus himself.
After all, she can't have anyone thinking she doesn't look after her beloved mortal. She's heard how the other gods treats their pets, how rough they are. But she's different. See how well odysseus is taken care of? And why would he even want to think about anything else when /shes/ right here. So what if he's a little resistant to the idea right now? Odysseus, the poor thing, is battered and traumatized it's natural that he'd be a little confused. One day he'll snap out of it and thank her. She just knows it.

rest in peace to Audrii Cunningham, an 11 year-old girl in texas who went missing several days ago and was found dead yesterday near her home. her killer was a child predator and neo-nazi who was a friend of her dad’s and lived on their property. the worst part is that as of right now reports are saying that her dad often left her alone in the perpetrator’s care while he was away at work.
kids are most often hurt by someone they know because some people are apparently so unbothered by pedophilia that they’ll allow convicted sex offenders to babysit their children for long periods of time. it also seems like every time a story comes out like this the perpetrator has a well documented history of child predation but was allowed back into society. both the justice system and her own dad majorly failed this little girl and also the other victims this man abused previously.

Tress scratched the best itch for me, I’ve been craving a good fairy tale and it was just perfect. I kept slipping so hard into the fairy tale aspects that I kept getting caught by surprise whenever a cosmere thing stopped beating around the bush and revealed itself, actually. While I’m sure that wasn’t fully the intention, it was a really fun way to read some brandermansanderman coming fresh off of sunlit man and how intensely locked in I was with the Connections. Genuinely Tress is such a fun little romp. I love girls who sail in fucked up seas and this is a genre I want more of please thank you.

Ash Bricky and her partner Laney are amazing musicians who I got to see on tour with Sister Wife Sex Strike and Apes of the State this summer. I can see revolutionary futures for them in music, but right now, they need help with getting a van for housing and touring!
Pitch in to help these kind, delightful NorCal folk punk crusties! (Also, stream Ash's song "We Protect Us," it's so good!!!)

i have a lot of bones to pick this chapter and i will get to that but i'm still really pressed by how rachel depicts kronos apparently grieving having to kill hera in her vision
Tumblr media
rachel does this really gross thing where at some point in the narrative, she'll have the male abuser depict some kind of sadness in regards to his female victim, but it is not remorse. it really reads like whitewashing the abuse itself because "can't you see how upset the abuser is that he has to do this :("
apollo got that really disgusting pov chapter talking about his perspective on persephone after raping her and that was bad enough, but then you also see kronos and his relationship with hera being sanitized or even shipped, when hera said verbatim that he abused her and she did not want to sleep with him, she had hoped she could just charm him. the narrative explicitly points out that kronos is a chronic abuser - he kills or severely injures rhea in a fit of rage after using all her powers, he frequently drives away any nymph or consort who approaches him, and he spends who knows how long mentally torturing hera.
there's another essay tucked into that but i just find it so fucking egregious that rachel wants to portray kronos as being upset he has to kill hera because of his own feelings for her, when the fact of the matter is he is choosing to kill her, just like he chose to kill rhea, and swallow his sons, and tear hera in half. depicting an abuser (a serial abuser, in this case) as being upset over an action he's choosing to do for his own benefit is ... a choice, and a disturbing one. why are we centering the abuser in a sympathetic light when he is still ultimately abusing someone???
